Engineered for Every Vehicle.
Developing the right material for the right application is critical.
Think about it: brakes on high performance vehicles work very differently to those on small, ‘about-town’ cars. They have very specific demands in terms of stopping power, noise prevention, temperature range, and longevity. So it stands to reason that the pad’s friction material should be tailored to the vehicle it is fitted to.
That’s why we carefully select and develop our friction material according to the vehicle class. We use over
130 different friction ingredients to create 20 unique formulations for the very best match. Some other
manufacturers use only one or two formulations, resulting in an inevitable compromise in performance.
And we don’t rest on our laurels. We’re constantly testing new formulations – more than 300 every
year. This continual development helps us always stay ahead of the game when it comes to both vehicle
performance and the environment. Take copper for example. We’re already phasing it out of our brake
pads, years ahead of US legislation.
